Invesco Real Estate Launches Student Housing Platform in South Korea
Invesco Real Estate has launched a purpose-built student accommodation platform in Seoul with local partner PCP Standard, seeding it with five assets near Korea University set to deliver over 400 beds.

Invesco Real Estate has launched a purpose-built student accommodation operating platform in South Korea. The platform, established in partnership with local developer-operator PCP Standard, targets a significant gap in Seoul's student housing market.
Platform seeded with five assets near Korea University
The new platform is seeded with five properties located next to Korea University in northern Seoul. These initial assets comprise three forward purchases and two development sites. The portfolio's gross floor area totals approximately 80,000 square feet, or 7,432 square metres.
Portfolio delivers 400+ beds at lower cost than existing options
The five assets are set to deliver more than 400 beds. This averages about 80 beds per property. The platform intends to position its rooms as a lower-cost alternative to existing higher-priced student accommodation options in the city.
Market opportunity driven by student demand and housing shortage
The launch responds to a clear market need. Jason Choi, funds management director at Invesco Real Estate, noted that Seoul has over half a million students, one of the world's largest such populations. He stated that on-campus housing options are limited and that purpose-built student accommodation is virtually non-existent in the city, creating strong underlying demand.
Platform aligns with Invesco’s regional living strategy and expansion goals
This move aligns with Invesco Real Estate's broader strategy to target the Asia Pacific region's burgeoning living segment. Calvin Chou of Invesco referenced the firm's established capabilities in senior living, land-lease communities, affordable accommodation, and multi-family housing across markets including Australia, China, Japan, and Korea. The platform will primarily target Korean students and aims to build a portfolio of properties worth more than $500 million. The strategy is described as a high-conviction theme with a long investment horizon. Invesco plans to expand its presence across the opportunity set in the region, with the platform aiming to scale significantly across major university districts in Seoul. PCP Standard, the local operating partner, is a student housing operator backed by Altos Ventures.
The five initial assets are expected to open in phases starting from the first quarter of 2027 through the first quarter of 2028.
